Young & Sexy vs. The Arc   (mp3)
Saucerful of Fire  (mp3)

"These eleven new songs wield the rare gift of both artful experimentation and strong melodic invention. The Arc is full of classical, baroque pop and prog rock influences. Songs move from one movement to another cradling lyrics that focus on medieval and pagan imagery with a touch of spiritualism. The band that released Stand Up For Your Mother (their Mint Records debut) has now moved into dark and mysterious passages such as, "The wick is lit, unsettling shadows play. The rhythm beats wild and we dance. Now mix the elixir." (From "The Demon Dreaming") Recorded and produced at The Hive Studios in Vancouver B.C. by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Cave Singers, Ladyhawk, Swan Lake), The Arc fits securely into Young and Sexy's ever-changing musical canon."

"2006's Panic When You Find It is another sophisticated, smart, and tuneful album from Vancouver's Young and Sexy. On it, the band refines their already pristine sound, tightens their lyrical scope, and comes up with a truly heartbreaking and musically breathtaking album...Young and Sexy has grown older and more real, and Panic When You Find It is an album that proves once again that the band has few peers when it comes to making smart and sophisticated adult pop in the mid-2000s."

"2003 has been an astonishingly strong year for Canadian indie rock. Hot Hot Heat, Broken Social Scene, and Manitoba have led the way in hipster circles, garnering plenty of attention south of the border, but it doesn't end there. The New Pornographers, Tangiers, the Dears, the Constantines, the Stills, and the Buttless Chaps have all put out notable albums in recent months, in what has to be regarded as a real renaissance, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that most of the best Canadian music acts all work outside the major label system (okay, Hot Hot Heat are now on a big label). It's young and sexy, though, with their facetious, lowercase moniker, and their relaxed, breezy brand of twee pop, who really emerge as one of the best bands their country has to offer."

"Oh, now, this band has completely restored my faith in little, unknown bands and music in general. The company of Paul Pittman (vocals, guitar), Lucy Brain (vocals), Ron Teardop (percussion), Ted Bois (keyboards), and Andrew J. Lagace (guitar) have created an album that is both exquisite in its melancholic nature and wonderfully upbeat and full of hope and optimism. When they sing about the beauty inherent in ugly buildings and cities, you really believe that these qualities exist in all cities, and when Pittman sings about how he's recovered completely from a lost love, you really don't believe him, even though you hope that he does. The arrangements are quiet and calm, beautifully orchestrated works with stand-out guitar and piano interludes that make it hard to decide whether the wonderful lyrics are what makes the songs, or the music itself.
