Firstly, we want to thank all of you who came out to the Biltmore to make our CD release show a fabulous success. Thanks in particular to Christy and Aaron who filled in on flute and keys. And thanks to REM for taking over the VIP section.
We're flying out to Toronto next week to play the NXNE festival. NXNE is like SXSW but in Canada and doesn't have the mystique of its Austin counterpart. There are lots of other bands playing as well, and I'm sure they're all splendid, but, as this is our website, for now we'll just be focusing on ourselves. We're on at 11:00pm at Sneaky Dee's on Friday June 13th/08. Crazy as it sounds we haven't been to T.O. for two whole years. We're looking forward to the chance to eat some fine fine Greek food and to get weird and drunk on some seriously sweet (if incredibly muggy) patios. Later...
To celebrate the release of our newest extended self-contained work of magic, entitled The Arc, we will be playing the Biltmore Cabaret on Friday, May 23rd. Located at 395 Kingsway, the Biltmore has quickly become Vancouver's venue du jour for those in the know. Whether or not it'll still be around this time next year is anyone's guess, but come to the show and you can say "I was there, at that show, at that place that isn't around anymore!" Ever heard of Ms. T's? Exactly my point.
Joining us this evening will be our friends Strange Magic (formerly The Radio) as well as the mightily awesome Sleep Holiday.
CBC will also be on hand to record this one time only, special event. All stops will be pulled out, no exceptions will be made, no excuses will be proffered and last but not least, NO REFUNDS!!!!
Yo. The wonderful Redcat Records (located at 4307 Main Street) is having a small in-store gig this Saturday, April 19th.
Lucy and Paul will be on at 3:00pm with a 20 minute acoustic set that will hopefully not include a rendition of "MacArthur Park" which I believe is a song about cake but is known to most people as "My Ears Are Bleeding And I Want To Die." Other acts include Awkward Stage and Swank.
Meow!
To all of you who missed last night's figuratively mind-bending show at the Media Club, we have good news: you can catch us on Saturday, April 12th at Hoko's Sushi Karaoke Bar, which is located 362 Powell Street. We'll be playing with Certain Breeds, who I hear are very good. The show will start around 9:30 or 10:00, and end around 12:00 at which point there will be Karaoke. You could very well end up having the most fun you've had in over 5 years (at least!)
In unrelated news my niece Emma, won the Under 10 division of the Alberta Pokémon championships and will be coming to Vancouver in July to play in the Pokémon TCG Canada National Championships. Crazy.

Media Club Gig!
Just a quick note to let you know that we're playing the Media Club on Tuesday, April 1st. The best practical joke you could play on us, would be coming to the show. We're shit hot these days, white hot I mean, so you won't want to miss it. We might even do a cover of some late 70's/early 80's/late 80's pop hit.
We're playing with a Toronto band called The Coast. Like the soap. Think early U2 meets the Pixies. Or don't think. Whatever. Just show up.
Also, check out the show page for new listings. We've got some cool stuff lined up.
Much love,
Y&S
Our new album is complete. Thank you to everyone involved but especially Colin at The Hive and Jaime Denike who recorded (in a closet on the other side of the country!) many lovely flute parts for us. The album is officially titled The Arc though some of us will always think of it fondly as Shazzie Bazzie. It should be released on Mint records in May of this year on CD and on Vinyl.
We also have a show scheduled at The Railway Club on February 1st. We are very excited to play with two great bands: The Rub and Sleep/Holiday. We'll keep you posted when we have set times etc.
Take care and Happy New Year!!!
xoxo Y&S

Re: New Album
We are currently recording our 4th album (tentatively titled "Sunrise on the Shazzie Bazzie") at The Hive Studios in Burnaby, BC. We are enjoying our time there and it's always fun to ride the Skytrain to the 'burbs. It's been a while since we were last in the studio: three years to be precise. Recording is the same arduous experience we have come to expect complete with performance anxiety, guitar intonation problems, junk food and Super Mario overload and the occasional inter-band tension. But really, what else are we gonna do? Get into knitting?
Anyway, after all is said and done, the record will be released on Mint at some point next spring.
Also, we'll be taking part in the Mint Records annual Xmas bash again this year. We'll keep you posted for the details.
Much love,
Y&S

Hello darlings,
Time for an update. Firstly, in the "Very Exciting" category, we have a split 7-inch coming out on Mint with our labelmates The Awkward Stage. We've dug up an old crowd favourite called Hello Sonny for our side. Recorded during the sessions for Life Through One Speaker back in 2003, Hello Sonny is refreshing and a nice blast from the past. It remains to be seen if we can play it live again, though. Don't hold your breath.
Speaking of live performances, the split single is to be celebrated at The Railway Club on May 25th. Friends Huge Manatease open, followed by Y&S, then The Awkward Stage.
We have a new jam space finally. So the new songs are feverishly being honed in order to hit the studio again, hopefully in September. New album working title, you ask? I'm thinking Damsels in the Dungeon or maybe The Cauldron Capers...hard to say just yet.
We may have a couple more shows happening this summer so keep your eye on the gig page.
Anyway, get outside. It's spring out there!
Toodles,
Y&S xxx
We need a rehearsal space in Vancouver (preferably the east side)! Stat! Pronto!
If anyone has anywhere we can jam or knows of somewhere, please drop us an email: youngand_sexy@hotmail.com
much love,

for Sparrow on February 17th.
In May we will be releasing a split 45 with Mint label mates The Awkward Stage. Our song is a leftover from the sessions for our
first album Stand up For Your Mother recorded almost six years ago! Crazy
but true. The song is called Hello Sonny and was a live staple of ours
for quite some time. We were never quite satisfied with the recording of
it back then (which is why it never made it onto the album) but
listening to it now we can hear it for the flawed gem that it is.
Hopefully you'll all agree. Also, we've started working on material for
our fourth album tentatively titled Gits & Shiggles which will most likely
be released in early 2008. Oh and I think the whole band is going to see
Deerhoof next week. Should be fun as long as Lucy picks up the tickets
before it sells out.
Ciao4Now babies.
Again this year Mint Records is hosting ridiculously early Xmas parties featuring various acts from their current roster. Not only are we playing Vancouver (The Ukrainian Hall in Strathcona, Dec. 2nd) but we are also making the journey over to Victoria to play The Lucky Bar (Dec. 1st). There are lots of bands and sets are short. It'll be a good time so get there early.
In Victoria we are slated to play last at 1:20am (bring your jammies) and in Vancouver we are listed to play at 8:50pm to be followed by Duotang, The Evaporators, Carolyn Mark, The Awkward Stage and The Buttless Chaps.
Hope you can make it.

Happy Halloween everybody!
So, firstly, we have finally posted our new video for Curious Organ on the music page. It's silly and cute and we hope you like it.
In other news: Upcoming Awesome Show
This Saturday, the 4th of November, we will be performing some of our songs at The Railway Club (located at 579 Dunsmuir Street). The evening should be awesome as we will be joined by two awesome bands, Great Aunt Ida and The Weather. Bfair (to yourself) and Bthere.
We have two shows in the not so distant future. On Friday September 29th we will be playing The Wise Hall with The Neins Circa who will be celebrating the release of their album "Please feel free to enter the Tipi". And on Sunday October 22nd we will be at the Plaza, opening up for the seven-headed beast, better known as The New Pornographers. This is the closer of Mint-Exclaim Cross Canada bonanza. Opening is local outfit, Bella. Come on down!

It's Kareem the Calculator! Along with Tina the Teacup and Brandon the Blow Horn, he is the star of our new music video! We spent two very long and hot days in Montreal last weekend with the most excellent crew from Fluorescent Hill shooting a video for Curious Organ. We don’t want to give too much away, but we’re confident to say that the video will pull at your heart strings while simultaneously blowing your mind! We’ll post the finished piece when it is complete (hopefully in August sometime).
Anyway, we have no other news to report. We’re just hanging loose and enjoying the summer time fun yo! We hope you are too. Til next time….xoxo Y&S.
Oh brother!
Brent blames the motel in Kakabeka Falls. Who knows where we caught it but each of us has suffered a strange Eastern virus ever since we returned to our fair city. While it threatened to overtake us at the Railway Club last weekend, we have the crowd to thank for making the shows so fun. Thanks to all our friends who came out and those who played with us: The Pokiok Falls, Novillero, The Radio and The Neins Circa.
We have a couple of exciting things coming down the pipes. Firstly, we have been asked to play the World Urban Forum (WUF!) on June 23rd. Details are sketchy but the CBC are involved. We'll keep you posted.
Secondly, we are in the process of having a video made for our song, Curious Organ. We've been trying to work with the good folks at Fluorescent Hill ever since Stand Up For Your Mother and finally it's happening! We are very lucky and are incredibly excited.
Ciao for now!
So we're about to hit the road and head east.
We have many cities to dazzle and hopefully your hometown is one of them.
Unless your hometown is Edmonton. Unfortunately, due to the venue moving locations, our show at the Sidetrack Cafe on April 7th has been cancelled. This is very disappointing and we apologize.
Our first show is at Calgary's Liberty Lounge this Thursday (April 6th). See you there!
Love Y&S
Also, we're finalizing our Canadian tour plans for April. Keep an eye on the show page for dates and venues.
Lastly, check out the new site! We'll be ironing out the creases over the next couple of weeks. We hope you like it!
Taker easy,
xoxo Y&S
Our new album Panic When You Find It has an official release
date. February 14/2006. Yes, Valentines Day. Hard to believe we started
recording it over a year ago. We had intended to record and mix it in
under 2 weeks. Who knows where the time goes?
Also we're playing the
Mint Christmas show on December 9th at the Cambrian Hall. 6 bands on
the bill. I guess that's pretty much the whole Mint roster. Hmmm, I
wonder if Cub will ever do a reunion show...
Also we now have a page on myspace.com. Check it out!!
